Hurricane Sandy
Recovery

Hurricane Sandy passed through the Lehigh Valley on Monday, October 25, 2012. This was a powerful hurricane that slammed into New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania with unfathomed strength and power. The damage was enormous and devastating. The Union and West End Cemetery suffered greatly.

The cemetery officers and directors put out a call to the community at-large for help. Starting about 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, volunteers from various organizations began to show up to pitch in and help. Six of the cemetery officers and directors were in attendance. Representatives from the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 190, residents from Keenan House, an individual with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a number of concerned neighbors and most importantly, the U.S. Tree Service LLC, 2240 Greenwood Rd, Allentown, PA 18103-2948 showed up with trucks and equipment and a wonderful crew of tree trimmers.

with all this help amassed one Saturday morning, the cemetery was looking much improved before lunch time. We are greatly indebted to U.S.Tree Service, the owner; Joshua J. Darcy and his mother, Joy and all of the 6 or 7 crew members that they brought with them. We also want all of the people that came out to help that we very much appreciate their efforts, their kind and generous contribution of their time and efforts.

A few pictures taken on Saturday are shown below:

The Officers and Directors of the Union and West End Cemetery Association wish to thank the U.S.Tree Service for its contribution of time, effort and equipment. The clean-up that was accomplished could not have happened without their generous contribution. The Officers and Directors of the cemetery association highly recommend the firm of:
